Jon Snyder is Washington State Governor Jay Inslee’s Policy Advisor for Outdoor Recreation and Economic Development.
Snyder is the first to occupy the new position that was created by the legislature in the 2015 session and originally sponsored by Senators Ranker, Parlette, Pearson, Rolfes, Hewitt, Litzow, Conway, Hasegawa, and McAuliffe.
Snyder draws on nine years’ experience as the owner and publisher of Out There Monthly magazine, the Inland Northwest Guide to outdoor recreation, and six years on the Spokane City Council representing Spokane’s 2nd District. At Out There Monthly he was able to help bring attention to the region as an outdoor destination, attracting major national advertisers, and winning industry awards. On Spokane City Council Snyder led the charge for Complete Streets policies, championed law enforcement reform, advocated for improved transit, fiscal responsibility, human rights, sensible density and urban planning that prepares Spokane for the future.
Jon will speak at the Offices of Outdoor Recreation Workshop on Thursday, October 13 at 8:00 AM as part of the SHIFT Summit.
