Jonathan Bell

Jonathan Bell is the senior associate producer of the award-winning outdoor lifestyle television show, Urban American Outdoors. Recently, he has been tasked with leading the newly-formed Urban American Outdoors Television news division, which is scheduled to debut in 2017.

A corporate and political communications strategist turned conservation advocate; Jonathan leverages skills in strategic communications, marketing, management, outreach and education to amplify the voices of people of color in the fields of habitat and wildlife preservation. He is committed to connecting urban youth with opportunities in conservation and also raising public understanding and awareness of natural resources and environmental issues.

Jonathan began his career as a youth reporter, participating in the Kansas City Star’s urban outreach program, which led him to the highly respected William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. The experience taught him many valuable lessons about the power of narrative and ignited his passion for building bridges of opportunity in urban communities. Today, Jonathan mentors young people interested in careers in communications and public policy. He also consults with local and national community organizations and serves as an advisory board member for an international community building effort.

An avid cyclist, runner, hiking enthusiast, nature photographer and self-proclaimed technology junkie, Jonathan prides himself on spending as much time as possible outside and integrating emerging technology into his outdoor activities.

Jonathan will speak at the panel, ‘Building a Better Pipeline’ on Saturday, October 15 at 10 AM as part of the SHIFT Summit.
