Why SHIFT?

Jackson Hole's economic vitality and environmental quality are directly connected. SHIFT is an annual festival, held each October in Jackson, Wyoming, that seeks to inspire communities like ours to preserve the natural capital vital to economic success. By showcasing innovative solutions that sustain our world, SHIFT fosters a more balanced relationship between people, profit and planet.

Why Jackson?

Conservation lies at the core of Jackson Hole’s environment, economy and character. The Greater Yellowstone Ecosytem is the birthplace of some of the world’s seminal conservation efforts, including the formation of the first national park and arguably the greatest public-private partnership in American history: the expansion of Grand Teton National Park to its current boundaries. The largest intact ecosystem in the Lower 48 inspired the drafting of the Wilderness Act. It will inspire you, too.

Why October?

IT'S AUTUMN. Autumn in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem means fall foliage, bugling elk, migrating megafauna and crisp, clear days, all in the shadow of the magnificent Tetons.

IT'S THE SHOULDER SEASON. The shoulder season in Jackson Hole means lower prices, restaurant specials, no crowds and a relaxed pace.

IT'S JACKSON HOLE. Accessibility (direct flights from major airports), charismatic animals, quintessential mountain landscapes, stunning lakes and rivers, blue-ribbon recreational opportunities, world-class amenities, influential audiences and a legacy of conservation make Jackson Hole the perfect location for the conservation conversation.
