Adventure, Inspired, featuring Yvon Chouinard

Featuring Yvon Chouinard, Adventure, Inspired is a film program that goes to the heart of why we climb, ski, surf, run.

The evening’s lineup features five films—Cold Waters, Stacy’s Story, Mile for Mile, The Fisherman’s Son, and Jumbo Wild.

Following the presentation of the first four films, Chouinard, with participation from the audience, will talk with three of the films’ protagonists—Stacy Bare, Todd Tanner and Luke Nelson—about the ways today’s adventure athletes are protecting the places in which they love to play.

The evening will finish with a screening of Jumbo Wild.

Jumbo Wild

Produced by: Patagonia and Sweetgrass Productions | Directed by: Nick Waggoner | Run time: 8 minutes

A film by Sweetgrass Productions that documents a 24-year battle of skiers, riders, alpinists, conservationists and First Nations to save the Jumbo Valley of British Columbia’s Purcell Mountains from development. Jumbo Wild is a gorgeous, gripping documentary film that captures the true story of the decades-long struggle over the future of the Jumbo Valley. Set against a backdrop of toothy spires and some of the deepest snow on earth, the film takes the audience on a journey into the raw and rugged peaks of British Columbia. Exploring an epic tug of war between a proposed large-scale ski resort on one side and community members, First Nations, and conservationists on the other, the film documents a fierce ideological battle surrounding how we value land and why we care so deeply about our wild backyards.
