9:00 am: Review discussion thus far and agenda for today

9:15 am: Outdoor Access | Lightning talks and plenary discussion

Core question: How do we improve sustainable access to public lands and waters in order to best foster stewardship of these lands by the stewards of tomorrow?

Moderated by Dan Nordstrom, 5 presenters each have exactly 5 minutes to share initial ideas and reactions to the core question. The remainder of the time (approximately 25-30 minutes), panelists will respond to each other’s ideas and react to the other discussion questions, with participation from the audience.

Core question: How do we establish a common ground among recreationalists, land managers and conservationists that minimizes conflict between user groups and sustains the active use of our playgrounds in perpetuity?

Moderator: Aparna Rajagopal-Durbin, Director of People & Culture, Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition

11:30 am: Lunch

Lunch is available at local restaurants and food carts in front of the Center for the Arts.

12:45 pm: Responsible Recreation and Outdoor Access | Small group discussions

Breakout rooms

Participants will self select to small group discussions of 10-15 participants to dive deeper into these topics. Small group discussions will focus on 1) identifying the biggest challenges 2) identify what is currently working or being done by initiatives to address these challenges and 3) identifying actions (collective or individual) that can address these challenges.

2:15 pm: Responsible Recreation and Outdoor Access | Report Back

Center for the Arts Theater Stage

Report back and plenary discussion on major actions suggested as part of the small group discussion.

3:30 pm: Aligning for Action

Center for the Arts Theater Stage

The final plenary and small-group session will be organized around the suggestions and ideas generated during the small-group discussions. The Map of Action will literally guide the organization of participants during the final session. Small groups will organize around the most prominent ideas from the previous sub-theme discussion. This final session is a chance for participants to get specific and identify which actions discussed during the Summit should be replicated for greater impact.

4:30 pm: Announcement of all SHIFT Award Winners

All SHIFT award winners announced, including:

·       Non-Profit Leadership

·       Public Land Management Innovation

·       Business Leadership

·       Adventure Athlete Stewardship

·       Youth Leadership

·       SHIFT Forward Award (people’s choice)

This will also be the final closing session for the Summit.
