Yvon Chouinard is a fly fisherman, environmentalist and entrepreneur. His outdoor-clothing company Patagonia is known for its environmental focus. Patagonia Provisions, his latest venture, uses sustainably sourced food to foster positive change in the food industry.

Chouinard is also a climbing pioneer, surfer, kayaker, and falconer. His early writings advanced climbing ethics around the world. His books, which include Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman and The Responsible Company: What We’ve Learned from Patagonia’s First 40 Years, mix environmentalism and sound business practice in the concept of a slow company.

Mr. Chouinard will participate in a discussion with New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman during The People’s Banquet on Friday, Oct. 9, and MC the Adventure, Inspired film program on Saturday, Oct. 10.
