As a climbing guide, Luis Benitez has summited the Seven Summits 32 times, led disabled veterans to the top of Mt. Lobuje in the Nepal Himalaya and the blind blind athlete Erik Weihenmayer to the top of Mt. Everest. As a leadership development expert, he has managed development seminars in Ecuador and Chile for the Wharton School of Business, advanced the business priorities of Vail Resorts and championed the interests of his community as a Councilman in Eagle, Colorado. Now, as Director of Colorado’s Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, he is insuring that outdoor recreation and conservation have a place of influence at the national political table.
A sought-after motivational speaker, Benitez will use the experiences of the 2016 SHIFT Festival and his adventures in the mountains to inspire a vision for the future of outdoor recreation and our public lands, wherein our public lands remain public, well-funded and protected by an engaged constituency that represents and reflects all of America.
