Welcoming Remarks

SHIFT Director Christian Beckwith will open the 2016 SHIFT Festival with an overview of its focus, Outdoor Rec & Our Public Lands, and its three sub-themes: The Public Lands Transfer Movement; Funding for Public Lands; Next-Generation Engagement and Cultural Relevancy.

Wyoming Governor Matt Mead will then address the benefits outdoor recreation can bring to a state’s economy, citizens and environment.

Following Governor Mead’s comments, Governor John Hickenlooper will speak about Colorado’s Office of Outdoor Recreation, which was created under his leadership in 2015.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commissioner Michelle Zimmerman will then speak to the adoption by CPW of the Principles for Advancing Outdoor Recreation and Conservation.
