Brett Prettyman worked at the Salt Lake Tribune for 25 years, serving as the outdoor editor, outdoor columnist and an environmental reporter. He left the newspaper in June of 2015 to join Trout Unlimited as Intermountain Communications Director over Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming. He also works as the communications team lead on the Trout Unlimited youth initiative – Headwaters Stream of Engagement – and with national partners on the Sportsmen for Responsible Energy Development collaboration.
Brett won two Emmy Awards as producer, editor and host of the “Utah Bucket List”, which aired on KUED, the local PBS station in Utah.
Brett has been a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America since 1992 and is a past president of the organization.
He also serves on the executive board for Reel Recovery, a national nonprofit which provides free fly fishing retreats for men with cancer.
