David Weinstein rejoined Outdoor Industry Association in 2018 as the state and local policy director. He works to engage the outdoor industry in state- and locally-based advocacy efforts; supports the creation of new funding and access for outdoor recreation through budget appropriations, legislation, and at the ballot box; and collaborates with current, and works to establish new, state offices of outdoor recreation around the country. A Wyss Foundation Fellow and Colorado native, David has been involved in conservation politics for more than 9 years, most recently as The Trust for Public Land’s Western Conservation Finance Director, and former positions with U.S. Senator Mark Udall’s Office and Colorado Governor Hickenlooper’s first gubernatorial campaign. He serves on the Board of Directors for both the Montana Conservation Corps and Alaska Wilderness League. David lives in Bozeman, MT and is an avid backcountry skier, mountain biker, hunter, angler, backpacker, and packrafter.
