State Offices of Outdoor Recreation Workshop

Tickets for this and all other SHIFT events may be purchased here.

Numerous state offices of outdoor recreation from around the country are currently reinvigorating local economies, improving citizen health and protecting our lands, waters and wildlife. On Thursday, October 18, presented by the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, SHIFT’s Third Annual State Offices of Outdoor Recreation Workshop will continue to support the development of state outdoor recreation leadership positions as it develops the three points related to Public Health and Wellness that were articulated in the July 2018 Confluence Accords:

  • Address social determinants of health by increasing outdoor recreation opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Partner with health & wellness stakeholders to determine shared values and common goals, build relationships, and generate innovative partnerships to fulfill shared visions.
  • Assist in quantifying impacts of access to outdoor recreation and related social determinants on healthcare outcomes and costs.

The workshop will be informed by Colorado Outdoor Industry Office’s Outdoor Recreation and Health Collaborative as well as initiatives and developments from other states. Its objective is to provide participants strategies for achieving the goals outlined in the Public Health and Wellness pillar of the Accords.
