GP RED Will Now Support SHIFT as Organizational & Fiscal Management Agent

As you know, numerous efforts around the world are underway to establish the connection between exposure to nature and positive public health outcomes. Proponents include health care providers, environmental justice advocates, conservationists, land managers, outdoor recreation providers and guides, researchers, and educators. SHIFT is proud to be part of convening and celebrating the leaders in these fields.

After eight years of vision and leadership, at the end of 2020 the Founder and Executive Director of SHIFT, Christian Beckwith, resigned to focus efforts on other realms. Now the SHIFT Executive Board has requested that as of February 2021 GP RED (www.gpred.org) staff and Operating Board proceed with transitioning to assume management of all aspects of the organizational and fiscal agency matters for SHIFT.

As such, 501 (c)(3) organization GP RED will now support SHIFT as Organizational and Management agent.

GP RED plans to continue and build the legacy of SHIFT, moving forward with 2021 SHIFT Summit, the Emerging Leaders Program, and other related research and education programs.

GP RED is a national 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2008.

The organization’s mission is to fill the gaps in Research, Education, and Development (RED). GP RED provides proven, innovative, strategic, and practical connections and information for the recreation, land management, health, planning, and allied professionals who help communities thrive.

Along with other initiatives, GP RED is a national non-profit that shares the general vision and values of SHIFT, with a focus on connecting, convening, and collaborating with health, recreation, and land management professionals from around the world. GP RED’s intent is to preserve the legacy and key projects created by the SHIFT founders and leaders, while helping to create organizational efficiencies. The overall goal is to create synergy, leveraging the strengths of both organizations for greater success and better financial sustainability, and to continue the good work that SHIFT has begun going forward. We anticipate great things to come and hope you will join us in these endeavors!
