Noted Authors to Participate in, Sign Books at SHIFT

Some of the foremost authors on the topics of nature contact and public health will be participating in this year’s SHIFT. Good news for book-lovers: they’ll be signing their books in person.

On Tuesday, October 16, following his presentation at the Pink Garter TheaterDr. Wallace “J” Nichols will sign copies of his New York Times bestselling book Blue Mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better at What You Do .

On Wednesday, October 17, at the Pink Garter Theater, Florence Williams, who is participating in a panel discussion on how to communicate the evidence for the health benefits of nature to the health care community, will sign copies of her book, The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative. 

On Thursday, October 18, Jon Jarvis, Director of The National Park Service from 2009-2017, will sign copies of his book, The Future of Conservation in America: A Chart for Rough Water. Jarvis will lead a meeting for public land managers earlier that day.

The book signings are being arranged by Jackson’s Valley Bookstore. All three books will be available for purchase during the evening programs.
