SHIFT Earns “Sustainability” Rating from STOKE Event Certification

The SHIFT Festival 2017, held in Jackson Hole, WY, Nov. 1-3, 2017, became the first certified sustainable event by STOKE Certified.

Now, we’re happy to report that the 2018 SHIFT Festival has been recertified by STOKE.

“We are highly honored to officially declare the 2018 SHIFT Festival recertified at the STOKE Sustainable level,” said Carl Kish, STOKE Co-Founder. “As the first STOKE Certified event, it’s only fitting that SHIFT is the first to get recertified. We are very proud of their team for progressing to the next level of certification in one year.”

This year’s SHIFT was evaluated against 92 criteria and 303 compliance indicators by a local independent evaluator, Mac Dukart. The event achieved a compliance score of 83% across all four categories of sustainability performance, which is above the minimum threshold of 70% for STOKE Events certification, and the 80% threshold for the “Sustainable” Certification.

“We’re honored to have earned the recognition as a Sustainable STOKE certified event,” said Christian Beckwith, Director of SHIFT. “We’re grateful to the folks at STOKE, Mac Dukart and the amazing community partners that have made this possible for a second year in a row. We’re also indebted to the diligent work of Chris Perkins, who helped secure our original certification.”

Elizabeth Hutchings, Marketing Coordinator for SHIFT, concurred. “We aim to build upon our past success and continue making SHIFT more sustainable year after year,” she said. “Working with STOKE to improve the environmental and social responsibility of our event is a perfect match and complementary to the mission of SHIFT.”
