Jenny has a deep-seated commitment to social and environmental justice. Along with many partners, she founded the California Outdoor Engagement Coalition with the belief that cross-sector partners must work together if we’re going to achieve the equity and inclusion that’s necessary for everyone to realize their full potential as well as the long-term protection of our planet. Since graduating from UC Berkeley in 2001, Jenny’s career has been focused on increasing equity for marginalized communities. She taught elementary school for four years in the Mississippi Delta and in Surrey, England. She was the Education Manager for the NGO Akanksha in Pune, India and was a staff coach, trainer and designer at Teach for America for five years. Jenny was co-chair of Education Outreach for UC Berkeley’s Science for Parks, Parks for Science summit, which led to the founding of the California Outdoor Engagement Coalition in summer 2015. She serves on the Bay Area committee for the Trust for Public Land and formerly served on the board of the Berkeley Public Schools Fund and the Candlestick Park State Recreation Area Interpretive Planning Advisory Committee. In her free time, Jenny enjoys yoga and exploring the outdoors with her husband and their two young children.
