Tara Pesterfield

Tara Pesterfield (née Dunn) is a 2019 SHIFT Award Official Selection for her work with Dr. Randy Rosenberger on the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Health Impact Estimator tool.

As the Let’s Go Camping Event Coordinator at Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, Tara helped introduce families to camping at Oregon State Parks. As an undergraduate research assistant at Oregon State University, Tara worked on a project quantifying the health benefits of outdoor recreation in Oregon. As part of the project, Tara adapted an existing Health Impact Estimator Tool to create the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Health Impact Estimator Tool (OR Estimator). Tara submitted the OR Estimator tool as her honors senior thesis and graduated from Oregon State University in September 2019 with an HBS in Natural Resources. Tara is currently applying for graduate school and hoping to continue research at the intersections of recreation and health.
